St Edmund’s is a popular Voluntary Aided secondary school in the heart of Portsmouth and serves a wide area. It is an Outstanding school (Ofsted 2016) serving a diverse population.

The school is currently recruiting for the following Support Staff vacancies:

  • Pastoral Support with Psychology (other subjects considered)
  • Wellbeing Support Officer (one year paid placement) (Undergraduate in Psychology)
  • Catering Assistant.

32.30 hours a week 8am to 3.30pm (Monday to Friday)

 We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, positive person (Undergraduate in Psychology) who has experience, or would like to gain experience of working with young people.  We would welcome applicants from Undergraduates from other subject areas. You should be a good listener, resilient and able to be flexible. No two days are the same! Whilst you do not need to be a Catholic, it is important to appreciate (or be willing to learn about) the distinctive nature of a Catholic education/community.

Catering Assistant (REF: CA25)

 Pay Band 2

Salary £ - £24,413 - £24,796 (Pro Rata £8,583.88 - £8,718.55)

Term Time Only

Hours of Work: 11.30am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday

 

Start Date: From November 2025 Onwards

 

This role is for 15 hours per week (Monday to Friday 11.30am to 2:30pm), term time only.  As a Catering Assistant you will help prepare, cook and pack food, and also be able to operate a till.  In addition, you will set up and clear dining room areas and carry out cleaning duties.  The Catering Assistant role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, has a flexible approach and enjoys working with both adults and children.
